CROSSED CANOES INSTRUCTIONS Although the Crossed Canoes block looks quite contemporary, it has been traced at least as far back as the 1895 catalog of the Ladies Art Company--the very first mail-order quilt pattern business. The block is made up of four equal segments: two light/dark and two dark/light. With only three seams to each quarter-block segment, it's a snap to complete and a natural choice for paper foundation piecing. Use the paper foundation pattern to make four segments. Then assemble as shown: |
